Professor JeKyung Seong's research lab focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying chronic diseases, particularly in the context of cancer, metabolic disorders, and inflammatory conditions. The lab investigates key regulatory pathways involving viral oncoproteins (e.g., HBx in hepatocellular carcinoma), transcription factors (e.g., HIF-1α and Smad3), and host-microbe interactions (e.g., Bifidobacterium in metabolic health). Recent work also extends into advanced genome-editing technologies, such as prime editing, for modeling human diseases. The lab integrates molecular biology, genomics, and in vivo models to uncover therapeutic targets and develop precision disease models.
