Professor Jeong Ah Hwang's research lab specializes in abdominal radiology and medical imaging, with a strong focus on liver disease diagnosis and characterization. The lab investigates advanced imaging techniques such as contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), gadoxetic acid-enhanced MRI, and non-contrast MRI to improve the detection and classification of liver tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma, combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma, and hemangiomas. Key research directions include optimizing diagnostic accuracy using LI-RADS criteria, evaluating functional imaging features like Kupffer-phase enhancement, and exploring the role of novel imaging biomarkers in predicting tumor behavior and prognosis. The lab also contributes to the development of non-invasive imaging strategies to reduce reliance on invasive procedures and improve patient outcomes in high-risk populations.
