Professor Jeong-ah Shin's research lab focuses on translational biomedical and biomaterials research, with a strong emphasis on infectious disease management, particularly multidrug-resistant pathogens like *Acinetobacter baumannii*, and on understanding the molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration in inherited diseases such as retinitis pigmentosa. The lab also investigates placental biology and nutrient transport regulation during pregnancy, especially in the context of hypertension, and explores the development of bioactive biomaterials—such as hydroxyapatite-chitosan composites—for tissue engineering and bone regeneration. These diverse research directions are united by a common goal: advancing therapeutic strategies through molecular, cellular, and preclinical studies.
