Professor Jeong Eun-cheol's research lab specializes in cerebrovascular diseases, with a primary focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes of complex intracranial aneurysms—particularly blood blister-like aneurysms and dissecting aneurysms of the vertebrobasilar and internal carotid arteries. The lab emphasizes endovascular interventional techniques such as stent-assisted coil embolization and stent-within-a-stent procedures, especially in challenging acute and chronic cases. Additional research interests include the neuroimaging and structural differences in the brain (e.g., corpus callosum), as well as the impact of systemic conditions like diabetes and sarcopenia on cerebrovascular and sensory health.

Ruptured blood blister-like aneurysms (BBAs) of the internal carotid artery (ICA) are potentially dangerous lesions because of the high risk of intraoperative bleeding associated with their wide fragile neck. The authors discuss cases in which BBAs were treated endovascularly during the chronic stage and report a case in which a ruptured BBA of the ICA was successfully treated in the acute phase with stent-assisted coil embolization and a subsequent stent-within-a-stent procedure.
