研究室紹介
Professor Jeong Eunseok's research lab specializes in minimally invasive gynecologic surgery, with a focus on laparoscopic and robotic-assisted techniques for gynecologic malignancies and benign gynecologic conditions. The lab investigates surgical outcomes, feasibility, and learning curves in procedures such as laparoscopic staging for ovarian cancer, sentinel lymph node mapping, and laparoscopic myomectomy for large uterine fibroids. Additionally, the lab explores the interplay between reproductive physiology and immune function, particularly in the context of menstrual cycle-related immune modulation and endometriosis. The research integrates clinical outcomes with advanced surgical techniques to improve patient care and surgical precision.

15The PKC1 gene of budding yeast encodes a homolog of the alpha, beta, and gamma isoforms of mammalian PKC that is proposed to regulate a MAPK-activation pathway. Mutants in this pathway undergo cell lysis resulting from a deficiency in cell wall construction when they attempt to grow at elevated temperatures. We show that the PKC1-regulated pathway is important for induced thermotolerance and that the MPK1 protein kinase (the MAPK of this pathway) is strongly activated by mild heat shock. This ac
Cyclical hormonal changes during an ovarian cycle may affect immune responses, which is crucial for the embryonic implantation. We aim to investigate whether the levels and activity of T, B, and NK cells change during a menstrual cycle. Twenty-two normally cycling women were enrolled and peripheral blood was drawn serially during a menstrual cycle. Intracellular cytokine expression of CD3(+)CD4(+) and CD3(+)CD8(+) cells, and Th1/Th2 cytokine-producing T cell ratios were determined using flow cyt
AIMS: The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of laparoscopically-assisted staging surgery for ovarian cancer. METHODS: Twenty four patients were evaluated. Among them, nineteen underwent initial laparoscopic staging surgery and five patients who were incompletely staged by other institutions underwent complete restaging surgery. The procedure included pelvic lymphadenectomy, paraaortic lymphadenectomy, multiple biopsies, washing cytology, infracolic omentectomy, and a
BACKGROUND: Several studies reported that pathology of the appendix is frequently detected alongside endometriosis, especially with chronic pelvic pain. Furthermore, ovarian endometriosis is a marker of more extensive pelvic and intestinal disease. AIMS: To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of incidental appendectomy in laparoscopic surgical treatment for ovarian endometrioma. METHODS: One hundred and six women with ovarian endometrioma underwent laparoscopic surgery including laparoscopic a
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Only a few studies have reported the learning curve for sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection in gynecologic malignancies. We investigated the learning curve for SLN detection during robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery for endometrial and cervical carcinomas. METHODS: This retrospective analysis included patients with stage IA to IIA1 cervical cancer or stage I to III endometrial cancer who underwent SLN mapping using indocyanine green during robot-assisted laparoscopic
The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility and efficacy of laparoscopic myomectomy (LM) for large myomas. A subpopulation of 51 patients with myomas 8 cm or larger in diameter was selected from 155 patients who underwent LM at Kangbuk Samsung Hospital from July 2003 to November 2006. The mean age of the patients was 34.9 +/- 5.6 yr, mean parity was 0.6 +/- 0.9, and 8 patients had a previous operative history. The most common operative indication was a palpable abdominal mass (24 patient
Pretreatment TLG proved to be an independent prognostic factor for RFS in patients with locally advanced cervical cancer treated by definitive chemoradiotherapy.
Matrix metalloproteinase-11 (MMP-11) promote cancer invasion and metastasis through degrading the extracellular matrix. Protein degradation by MMP-11 in tumor cells may progressively suppress cancer surveillance activities with blocking immune response in breast cancer. The aim of study is to analyze clinicopathological parameters, molecular interactions and anticancer immune response in patients with MMP-11 expression and to provide candidate target drugs. We investigated the clinicopathologic
Therapeutic strategies making use of low ARID1A could contribute to better clinical management/research for patients with OCCC.
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of estrogen and estrogen receptor α (ERα) and β (ERβ) on the expression of visfatin and retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4) by treating 3T3-L1 adipocytes with estradiol (E2), estrogen receptor agonists and antagonists. Mature adipocytes were exposed to E2, the ERα agonist, 4,4',4''-(4-propyl-[1H]-pyrazole-1,3,5-triyl)trisphenol (PPT), the ERβ agonist, 2,3-bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propionitrile (DPN), E2 with the ERα antagonist, 1,3-bis(4-hydroxypheny
A foreign body in the bladder is a rare occurrence. Although most intravesical foreign bodies can be removed successfully using endoscopic transurethral extraction, suprapubic cystotomy may be required for the removal of large bodies. We report a case of an intravesical mass 8 cm in diameter that was successfully removed using laparoscopic cystotomy without further complications. The foreign body was a leiomyoma of the uterus that had not been removed during laparoscopically assisted vaginal hys
It is feasible and efficient to perform LPAL to the left renal vein level for women with gynecologic malignancies by well-trained gynecologic oncology surgeons according to our suggested standard surgical boundary.
PURPOSE OF INVESTIGATION: Obesity is correlated with low education, low economic status, and lower rates of Pap smears, which are known as socio-demographic risk factors for cervical cancer. However, the association between obesity and high-risk human papillomavirus (HR-HPV) infection, the necessary cause of cervical cancer, and its related precursors, is not established. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The authors examined the association between obesity and HR-HPV infection in 6,868 patients, who parti
