Professor Jeong Min Kim's research lab focuses on cerebrovascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders, with a strong emphasis on using advanced medical imaging—particularly high-resolution vessel wall MRI—to understand the pathophysiology of intracranial atherosclerosis and its role in stroke recurrence. The lab investigates biomarkers such as folate, vitamin B12, and homocysteine in relation to dementia risk, exploring both baseline levels and longitudinal changes. Additionally, the lab contributes to materials science by developing flexible electrochromic devices for smart window applications using conductive polymers. Overall, the lab bridges clinical neuroscience with biomedical engineering to improve diagnosis, risk prediction, and therapeutic strategies for neurological diseases.

Shorter limb length was associated with lower childhood socioeconomic status, as estimated by the presence/duration of formal education. It was also independently associated with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Sex differences in this association might be explained by gender disadvantage in early life for this cohort or by different associations with health states (for example, cardiovascular disease) later in life.
Patients with advanced stage adult MMD tended to have ischaemic lesions involving the cortex and posterior part of the brain and the stroke mechanism in these patients was largely associated with haemodynamic compromise. Our results suggest that the lesion pattern of ischaemic stroke may change along with the extent of arterial involvement.
Vulnerable symptomatic plaque as determined by a high-resolution magnetic resonance imaging technique is associated with artery-to-artery embolic infarction.This novel imaging technique can provide information about intracranial atherosclerosis in vivo, which can predict the infarction pattern.
