Professor Jeong Myung-jin's research lab specializes in medical imaging and diagnostic radiology, with a focus on the cross-sectional CT evaluation of interstitial lung diseases, pulmonary infections, and pancreatic tumors. The lab investigates the radiological features of complex pulmonary conditions such as Sjögren’s syndrome with amyloidosis, nontuberculous mycobacterial infections, and diffuse infiltrative lung diseases, emphasizing quantitative imaging biomarkers for objective disease assessment. The team also explores advanced imaging techniques, including dynamic spiral CT and multiplanar reconstructions, to improve the detection and characterization of small, subtle lesions such as islet cell tumors and sclerosing hemangiomas.

15Sjogren syndrome accompanying pulmonary amyloidosis and lymphoproliferative disease manifests as multiple, large, thin-walled cysts; multiple nodules; parenchymal opacity; and bronchiectasis. These findings are caused by the interstitial or peribronchial infiltration of mixed amyloid and lymphoproliferative cells.
Quantitative indexes measured by a commercial workstation showed good correlation not only with the extent of DILD estimated by visual inspection but also with PFT results. Quantitative indexes can be used as an objective tool for quantitative evaluation of disease extent and for follow-up of the progression or improvement of a DILD.
We aimed to compare the CT findings of nontuberculous mycobacterial pulmonary diseases caused by Mycobacterium avium-intracellulare complex (MAC) and Mycobacterium abscessus. On dynamic CT, sclerosing hemangioma has strong and rapid enhancement attributed histopathologically to the presence of hemangiomatous or papillary components in the tumor.
By providing thin-section transaxial, multiplanar reconstruction, and 3D images, CT angiography using MDCT allows comparable or better images than conventional angiography with respect to the depiction of bronchial or nonbronchial systemic arteries. CT angiography is particularly useful for visualizing the ectopic origin of bronchial arteries and nonbronchial systemic collateral arteries.
