Professor Jeong-Won Kwon's research lab specializes in interventional radiology and minimally invasive endovascular techniques, focusing on innovative catheter-based interventions for urological and vascular pathologies. The lab investigates fluoroscopy-guided stent replacements, vascular access closure, and complex peripheral vascular recanalization strategies such as SAFARI and balloon-assisted techniques. Their work emphasizes improving procedural safety, reducing complications, and enhancing outcomes in patients with malignant obstructions, acute variceal bleeding, and critical limb ischemia. A high statistics sample of photoproduced charm particles from the FOCUS (E831) experiment at Fermilab has been used to search for CP violation in the Cabibbo suppressed decay modes D+ to K-K+pi+, D0 to K-K+ and D0 to pi-pi+. The subintimal arterial flossing with antegrade-retrograde intervention (SAFARI) technique is reportedly effective in severe peripheral vascular disease that cannot be treated with standard endovascular techniques including subintimal angioplasty. In this report, we used a target balloon with the Outback catheter to recanalize a thrombosed bypass graft that could not be treated successfully with SAFARI.
