Professor Jeong-yoon Kim's research lab focuses on environmental health and epidemiology, with a strong emphasis on the impact of air pollution and weather conditions on respiratory health, particularly in emergency department settings. The lab investigates the biological mechanisms of disease progression, especially in cancer and inflammatory conditions, through molecular studies on signaling pathways such as Notch. Additionally, the lab examines the health effects of dietary components, including whole grains, on metabolic and liver function. Their work integrates clinical data, environmental monitoring, and molecular biology to address public health challenges in South Korea and beyond.

OBJECTIVES: The number of paediatric patients visiting the emergency department (ED) continues to rise. In South Korea, approximately 25% of the patients who visit the ED are paediatric patients.
