研究室紹介

Professor Jeong-Yoon Lee's research lab focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian cancer progression, metastasis, and treatment response. The lab investigates the role of bioactive compounds like genistein in cancer chemoprevention and therapy, particularly in ovarian cancer, while also exploring tumor evolution and immune microenvironment dynamics using advanced genomics and immunophenotyping techniques. A key focus is on identifying predictive biomarkers and therapeutic targets through next-generation sequencing, spatial profiling, and functional immune cell analysis in high-grade serous ovarian cancer.

Genistein as a Potential Anticancer Agent against Ovarian Cancer

Genistein is known as the major component of isoflavone, which is present in high-soy diets. Genistein has received much attention because of its chemopreventive and therapeutic effects on various types of cancers. Numerous studies have shown that genistein has antineoplastic effects against ovarian cancer. Several epidemiological studies have shown that women who have high consumption of isoflavones have a relatively low incidence of ovarian cancer. Genistein inhibits ovarian carcinogenesis by

BACKGROUND: The survival of patients with ovarian cancer has improved because of surgery and chemotherapy. This study aimed to estimate the changes in survival rates among Korean women with ovarian cancer prior to the introduction of targeted therapy for ovarian cancer. METHODS: Data were obtained from the Korea Central Cancer Registry regarding patients who were diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer between 1995 and 2014. The relative survival rates were calculated for 5-year periods using t

BACKGROUND: The extent to which metastatic tumors further evolve by accumulating additional mutations is unclear and has yet to be addressed extensively using next-generation sequencing of high-grade serous ovarian cancer. METHODS: Eleven spatially separated tumor samples from the primary tumor and associated metastatic sites and two normal samples were obtained from a Stage IIIC ovarian cancer patient during cytoreductive surgery prior to chemotherapy. Whole exome sequencing and copy number ana

OBJECTIVE: The chemotherapy response score (CRS) system based on histopathological examination has been recently proposed for tubo-ovarian high-grade serous carcinoma (HGSC) to assess response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). This study was aimed at validating the CRS system in an external cohort of tubo-ovarian HGSC patients. METHODS: This study included 110 tubo-ovarian HGSC patients who underwent NAC followed by interval debulking surgery. The 3-tiered CRS of the omental and adnexal tissue

Background Responses to immunotherapy vary between different cancer types and sites. Here, we aimed to investigate features of exhaustion and activation in tumor-infiltrating CD8 T cells at both the primary and metastatic sites in epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods Tumor tissues and peripheral blood were obtained from 65 patients with ovarian cancer. From these samples, we isolated tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and peripheral blood mononuclear cells. These cells were used for immunopheno

In 1999, the National Cancer Institute issued a clinical advisory strongly touting the advantage of cisplatin-based chemoradiation (CCRT) for cervical cancer patients requiring radiation for their treatment. This study aimed to compare survival outcomes of cervical squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma before and after the advent of CCRT. Data were obtained from the Korea National Cancer Incidence Database for patients who were diagnosed with cervical cancers between 1993 and 2012. We compa

INTRODUCTION: The prevalence of adolescent electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) use has increased in most countries. This study aims to determine the relation between the frequency of e-cigarette use and the frequency and intensity of cigarette smoking. Additionally, the study evaluates the association between the reasons for e-cigarette use and the frequency of its use. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using the 2015 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey, we included 6655 adolescents with an experien

BACKGROUND: We aimed to develop a preoperative prediction model identifying the low-risk group for lymph node metastasis in endometrial cancer. METHODS: In 110 patients who underwent preoperative magnetic resonance imaging and serum CA-125 test, logistic analysis was performed to identify predictors. The coefficients obtained from logistic regression were used to construct a scoring system, and a receiver operator characteristic curve was created. RESULTS: Lymph node metastases were found in 14
