研究室紹介

Professor Jeongcheon Ahn's research lab specializes in cardiovascular disease mechanisms, with a focus on arrhythmia substrates, aortic stiffness, and vascular aging. The lab investigates hemodynamic and electrophysiological markers—such as action potential duration restitution and pulse wave velocity—that predict ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation and coronary artery disease severity. It also explores pharmacological interventions, including statins and antiplatelet agents, to modulate vascular and thrombotic risk in high-risk patients. The lab integrates invasive hemodynamic measurements with clinical outcomes to identify novel biomarkers and therapeutic targets in cardiovascular disease.

Spatial Dispersion of Action Potential Duration Restitution Kinetics Is Associated with Induction of Ventricular Tachycardia/Fibrillation in Humans

INTRODUCTION: Action potential duration restitution (APDR) plays a role in initiation and maintenance of ventricular tachycardia (VT)/ventricular fibrillation (VF). We hypothesized that the steeply sloped APDR and its spatial heterogeneity contribute to VT/VF inducibility in patients with ventricular arrhythmia. METHOD AND RESULTS: After programmed ventricular stimulation (PVS) for evaluation of clinically documented VT, patients (n = 20, 15 male, age 52.5 +/- 9.5 years) were divided into two gr

Fixed-dose combinations of ezetimibe/rosuvastatin significantly improved lipid profiles in patients with hypercholesterolemia compared with rosuvastatin monotherapy. All groups treated with rosuvastatin and ezetimibe reported a decrease in mean LDL-C level >50%. The safety and tolerability of ezetimibe/rosuvastatin therapy were comparable with those of rosuvastatin monotherapy. ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02749994.

SJR Q1EP EuropaceOA

Although amiodarone appears to have few pro-arrhythmic effects, torsade de pointes (TdP) has been observed during long-term drug administration, usually in conjunction with electrolyte disturbances, a change in drug dosage, or concomitant drug therapy. We report two cases of amiodarone-induced TdP shortly after administration of a low dose of oral amiodarone, in the absence of predisposing factors.

Background and Objectives:Aortic stiffness is an independent predictor of cardiovascular mortality and of all other causes in hypertensive patients. The object of this study was to investigate whether aortic stiffness, measured by pulse wave velocity (PWV), could be used as an independent predictor for detecting coronary artery atherosclerosis. Subjects and Methods:PWV was measured by an invasive method. All patients (n=187, M/F= 77/110) were suspected as having the coronary artery disease (CAD)

The aim of this clinical trial was to assess the efficacy and safety of low-dose triple combinations of amlodipine, telmisartan, and chlorthalidone in patients with essential hypertension. After a 2-week placebo run-in period, 176 patients were randomized to seven treatment groups (placebo, quarter-dose combination, third-dose combination, half-dose combination, amlodipine 5 mg, amlodipine 10 mg, and telmisartan 80 mg) and administered the assigned study drug orally for 8 weeks. Background and Objectives:Myocardial infarction in young age is an uncommon condition and has few risk factors than old aged group. Hyperhomocysteinemia, which is an independent risk factor for vascular disease, is associated with myocardial infarction (MI. Therefore, we evaluate that hyperhomocysteinemia is associated with myocardial infaction in young age. Materials and Methods:A total 64 patients (normal control 23 (young:old 13:10 mean age 54.2±13.8, M.I 41 (young:old=13:28 mean age 53.9±14.

Most coronary arteriovenous fistula (CAVF) drain into the pulmonary artery or the right heart chamber. CAVF between the left coronary artery and left ventricle is very uncommon. Moreover, a case of CAVF from a diagonal branch of the LAD to the LV has not been reported so far. We report a case of a 79-year-old man, complaining of intermittent chest pain and dyspnea on exertion for apprioximately 2 months. CAVF from the diagonal branch of the LAD to the LV was confirmed by selective coronary angio
