研究室紹介

Professor Jeonghwan Moon's research lab focuses on cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying tissue development, fibrosis, and cancer therapy, with a strong emphasis on mitochondrial function, redox signaling, and mechanotransduction. The lab investigates how metabolic regulators like YAP/TAZ and bioactive compounds such as anethole influence cell fate decisions in mesenchymal stem cells and fibroblastic reticular cells. It also explores the application of photobiomodulation and photosensitizers like radachlorin in neuroprotection and cancer treatment, particularly in thyroid cancer. Additionally, the lab develops biomechanical models to predict complex human movement dynamics, especially ground reaction forces during asymmetric motions.

mTOR and ROS regulation by anethole on adipogenic differentiation in human mesenchymal stem cells
Yun‐Hee Rhee, Jeong Hwan Moon, Ji‐Hun Mo, Tiffany Pham, Phil‐Sang Chung
BMC Cell BiologyOA

BACKGROUND: Adipocyte differentiation of human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) is dependent on mitochondrial metabolism and reactive oxygen species (ROS) to initiate adipocyte differentiation. Although anethole has been known as an anti-oxidant and lipid peroxidation inhibitor, there is little investigated about its role in adipogenic differentiation. METHODS: The effects on cytotoxicity and proliferation of anethole in hMSCs were measured by the MTT assay. The anti-adipogenic effect of anethole

Fibroblastic reticular cells (FRCs) are immunologically specialized myofibroblasts of lymphoid organ, and FRC maturation is essential for structural and functional properties of lymph nodes (LNs). Here we show that YAP and TAZ (YAP/TAZ), the final effectors of Hippo signaling, regulate FRC commitment and maturation. Selective depletion of YAP/TAZ in FRCs impairs FRC growth and differentiation and compromises the structural organization of LNs, whereas hyperactivation of YAP/TAZ enhances myofibro

Ground Reaction Forces Predicted by Using Artificial Neural Network during Asymmetric Movements
최안렬, 문정환, 이재문

During the motion analysis, joint moments are calculated by the inverse dynamics method. The ground reaction forces are representative input data for an application of the inverse dynamics technique, and extracted from an installed force platform. However, when the vast majority of human body movement, continuous and wide spaced, is considered, usage of the fixed force platform on analyzing exercises has many limitations. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to suggest a method to predict the

Chlorin e6 Derivative Radachlorin Mainly Accumulates in Mitochondria, Lysosome and Endoplasmic Reticulum and Shows High Affinity toward Tumors in Nude Mice in Photodynamic Therapy
Raktim Biswas, Jeong Hwan Moon, Jin‐Chul Ahn
SJR Q2Photochemistry and Photobiology

The efficacy of photodynamic therapy (PDT) depends upon the amount of photosensitizer accumulated in the malignant tissues. Radachlorin is a popular photosensitizer used in photodynamic therapy to treat various types of cancer. In this study, we have studied the main organelles responsible for the accumulation of radachlorin in human anaplastic thyroid cancer in vitro and in vivo. The optimal time window for uptake and clearance of radachlorin also was studied. Confocal microscopic images confir

Metastatic Lymph Node Ratio of Central Neck Compartment Has Predictive Values for Locoregional Recurrence in Papillary Thyroid Microcarcinoma
Sung Yong Choi, Jae‐Keun Cho, Jeong Hwan Moon, Young‐Ik Son
SJR Q1Clinical and Experimental OtorhinolaryngologyOA

When the MLNR is higher than 0.44, there is an increased risk of locoregional recurrence mostly in the lateral neck. Therefore, MLNR of the central neck in a permanent or frozen biopsy may be helpful in decision making in the extent of thyroidectomy and/or the need for contralateral central neck lymph nodes dissection.

Effect of photobiomodulation therapy on neuronal injuries by ouabain: the regulation of Na, K-ATPase; Src; and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathway
Yun‐Hee Rhee, Jeong Hwan Moon, Jae Yun Jung, Connie Oh, Jin‐Chul Ahn, Phil‐Sang Chung
SJR Q2BMC NeuroscienceOA

To determine whether photobiomodulation (PBM) rescued the disruption of Na + /Ca 2+ homeostasis and mitochondrial membrane potential by ouabain; the Na, K-ATPase inhibitor. For PBM in this study, a 660 nm LED array was used at energy densities of 0.78, 1.56, 3.12, 6.24, and 9.36 J/cm 2 . HCN-2 neuronal cells treated with ouabain showed loss of cell polarity, disrupted cell morphology, and decreased cell viability, which were improved after PBM treatment. We found that ouabain-induced Na, K-ATPas

SJR Q2Journal of Craniofacial Surgery

The purpose of this project was to study the effect of growth hormone on early bony consolidation in distraction osteogenesis of a dog model. Sixteen dogs were used for this study. The vertical osteotomy on the mandibular body was extended downward. An external distraction device was applied to the mandibular body and the mandibular distraction was started 5 days after the operation at a rate of 1 mm/d up to a 10-mm distraction. The experimental group was divided into a control group and growth

Transoral Dermoid Cyst Excision: A Multicenter Prospective Observational Study
Jin Pyeong Kim, Dong Kun Lee, Jeong Hwan Moon, Jung Je Park, Seung Hoon Woo
SJR Q1Otolaryngology

OBJECTIVE: Transoral surgery is becoming a preferred technique because it does not leave any scar after surgery. However, transoral surgery for a dermoid cyst of the oral cavity is not standardized yet, due to the anatomic complexity of this region. The aim of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a transoral dermoid cyst excision. STUDY DESIGN: Multicenter prospective observational study. SETTING: University hospital. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This study was designed as a 4-year pro

Kinematic and kinetic analysis using 3D Motion Capture system are common, yet there is little in the literature that discuss the relationship and coactivity between muscles during the golf swing. The purpose of this study was to describe the relationship between the employed 16 muscles during golf swing. We could observe 3 muscle patterns such as 'Line' shape, 'L' shape, and 'Loop' shape for the golf swing activity. The 'Line' shape indicates that two muscles act almost perfectly in phase, and t
