Professor Ji Eun Oh's research lab focuses on mucosal immunology and the host response to viral infections, with a particular emphasis on the role of innate and adaptive immunity at barrier surfaces such as the respiratory and genital mucosa. The lab investigates how commensal microbiota, pattern recognition receptors, and autophagy modulate antiviral immunity, and explores the impact of microbial dysbiosis on disease susceptibility. Additionally, the lab integrates medical imaging and molecular genetics to study tumor heterogeneity, particularly in glioblastoma and colorectal cancer, linking genetic alterations like KRAS and IDH mutations to clinical outcomes. Recent work also highlights tissue-resident B cells as key players in rapid, localized immune defense at mucosal sites.
