Professor Ji-hyun Seo's research lab specializes in neuromuscular rehabilitation and neuroplasticity, focusing on improving motor function, balance, and gait in patients with neurological disorders such as stroke, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and repetitive mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). The lab investigates non-invasive neuromodulation techniques like transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and advanced diagnostic methods such as high-resolution manometry to optimize therapeutic interventions. A key research direction involves developing individualized exercise programs and early intervention strategies—particularly for dysphagia and postural control—aimed at enhancing functional outcomes and quality of life.

BACKGROUND: Pediatric flexible flat foot (PFFF) is often associated with pain along the medial longitudinal arch and potential disability. There are several conservative treatment options for PFFF, ranging from intrinsic muscle exercises to orthosis, including University of California Biomechanics Laboratory (UCBL) and custom-made semi-rigid insoles. OBJECTIVES: To investigate and compare the effect of UCBL and custom-made semi-rigid insoles on pedobarographic and radiologic parameters in PFFF.
This pilot study confirmed that applying tablet computer-based cognitive training to children with DD not only improves VMI, but also enhances fine motor skills and activities of daily living. Furthermore, the results of this study indicate that tablet computer-based cognitive training does not increase digital media addiction. Therefore, children with DD can engage in tablet computer-based cognitive training at home without concerns about digital media addiction.
