研究室紹介

Professor Ji Soo Park's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research with a strong emphasis on respiratory diseases, genetic susceptibility in cancer, and pediatric health outcomes. The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of environmental toxicants on lung epithelial cells, particularly polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG-p), and explores genetic variants associated with hereditary cancers using multigene panel sequencing. Additionally, the lab applies machine learning and health data analytics to improve pediatric respiratory disease diagnosis and evaluate medication safety in children and adolescents.

Polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate-induced ROS-mediated DNA damage caused cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in lung epithelial cells

SJR Q3The Journal of Toxicological SciencesOA

Polyhexamethylene guanidine phosphate (PHMG-p) is an active ingredient of humidifier disinfectants and causes severe lung injury resulting in pulmonary fibrosis. Current evidence indicates that pulmonary fibrosis is initiated as a result of epithelial damage, which can lead to an inflammatory response and fibrotic cell infiltration; however, the toxic mechanism of PHMG-p on the epithelium is still unknown. In this study, the toxic response of PHMG-p on human lung epithelial cells was evaluated,

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Auscultation, a cost-effective and non-invasive part of physical examination, is essential to diagnose pediatric respiratory disorders. Electronic stethoscopes allow transmission, storage, and analysis of lung sounds. We aimed to develop a machine learning model to classify pediatric respiratory sounds. Lung sounds were digitally recorded during routine physical examinations at a pediatric pulmonology outpatient clinic from July to November 2019 and labeled as normal, crackles, or wheezing. Ense

Identification of a Novel BRCA1 Pathogenic Mutation in Korean Patients Following Reclassification of BRCA1 and BRCA2 Variants According to the ACMG Standards and Guidelines Using Relevant Ethnic Controls

SJR Q1Cancer Research and TreatmentOA

PURPOSE: Comparison of variant frequencies in the general population has become an essential part of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG) standards and guidelines for interpreting sequence variants. We determined the optimal number of relevant ethnic controls that should be used to accurately calculate the odds ratio (OR) of genetic variants. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Using the ACMG guidelines, we reclassified BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations and variants of unknown significance in

Leukotriene receptor antagonists and risk of neuropsychiatric events in children, adolescents and young adults: a self-controlled case series
Ji Soo Park, Yoo Jung Cho, Je‐Yeon Yun, Hye Jin Lee, Jinho Yu, Hyeon‐Jong Yang, Dong In Suh
SJR Q1European Respiratory JournalOA

BACKGROUND: Leukotriene receptor antagonists (LTRAs) are widely used for asthma and allergic rhinitis (AR), but concerns about the risk of neuropsychiatric events (NPEs) have been raised since the first Drug Safety Communication by the US Food and Drug Administration in 2008. This study evaluates the association between LTRA use and NPEs in children, adolescents and young adults with asthma or AR. METHODS: A self-controlled case series study was conducted using the Korean National Health Insuran

SJR Q2BMC CancerOA

BACKGROUND: We evaluated the incidence and spectrum of pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants of cancer susceptibility genes in BRCA1/2 mutation-negative Korean patients with a high risk for hereditary breast cancer using a comprehensive multigene panel that included 35 cancer susceptibility genes. METHODS: Samples from 120 patients who were negative for BRCA1/2 mutations, but had been diagnosed with breast cancer that was likely hereditary, were prospectively evaluated for the prevalence of
