Professor Ji-won Shim's research lab focuses on the metabolic regulation of innate immunity, particularly in invertebrate models such as *Drosophila melanogaster*. The lab investigates how immune cells reprogram their metabolism during activation and development, integrating metabolic flux analysis with single-cell omics to uncover mechanisms underlying immune cell fate decisions. A central theme is understanding mitochondrial metabolism in hematopoietic-like cells, especially during immune responses such as lamellocyte differentiation. The lab also emphasizes the development and standardization of *Drosophila* research methodologies to ensure reproducible and reliable experimental outcomes.
