Professor Ji-Yeob Choi's research lab focuses on the molecular epidemiology of cancer, with a primary emphasis on gene-environment interactions, oxidative stress, and epigenetic mechanisms in carcinogenesis. The lab investigates how genetic polymorphisms, nutritional factors (such as iron and alcohol), and endogenous antioxidant systems influence susceptibility to prostate and breast cancers. Key research directions include the role of oxidative stress and DNA methylation in cancer risk, particularly in high-risk populations such as smokers and individuals with familial or hormonal exposures. The lab employs nested case-control studies within large cohort trials to identify biomarkers and genetic variants associated with cancer etiology and progression.
