Professor Ji-yong Lee's research lab specializes in advanced optical measurement techniques and nanomaterials engineering, with a strong focus on fiber optics, plasmonics, and biomedical imaging. The lab develops innovative methods for precise chromatic dispersion and mode delay characterization in optical fibers using spectral and low-coherence interferometry, enabling high-precision, real-time diagnostics. In parallel, the lab pioneers novel fabrication strategies for plasmonic nanostructures—such as nano-necklaces and patterned metallic arrays—through templated synthesis and galvanic displacement reactions, advancing applications in sensing and nanophotonics. The integration of these optical and nanofabrication techniques supports interdisciplinary research in biomedicine, including transcranial Doppler evaluation and intracerebral hemorrhage prognosis.
