Professor Jihee Kim's research lab specializes in organizational behavior, corporate strategy, and non-market strategies with a focus on the interplay between political connections, corporate social responsibility, and managerial decision-making. Her work explores how executive networks influence corporate behaviors such as tax avoidance, philanthropy, and strategic risk-taking, particularly in regulated industries. The lab also investigates multisensory communication in tourism, examining how empathy and destination image shape travel intentions through experimental and econometric methods. Additionally, the lab applies advanced analytical techniques such as DEA, CEM, and structural equation modeling to assess organizational efficiency and strategic performance.

How CEO Political Connections Induce Corporate Social Irresponsibility: An Empirical Study of Tax Avoidance in South Korea
Jihee Kim, Ji‐Hwan Lee
SJR Q1SustainabilityOA

Building upon prior literature on the role of executives in tax payments, this study investigates the relationship between a CEO’s political connections and tax avoidance behavior as a typical type of social irresponsibility of a corporation. We propose that CEOs who are well connected to politicians through family, academic, and professional ties tend to adopt riskier strategic choices such as tax avoidance. We employ a multi-faceted method to quantify political connections in a more comprehens

To do so, a 2 (image: absence vs. presence) x 2 (knowledge: absence vs. presence) experiment was conducted. Then, contingent valuation method (CVM) was used to estimate and compare tourists’ willingness-to-pay among four experimental conditions. The findings revealed that level

Journal of Basic Design & Art
