Professor Jin Hwa Kim's research lab specializes in maternal and child mental health, with a primary focus on the psychological well-being of mothers, particularly in relation to parenting behaviors and maternal adjustment. The lab investigates the complex interplay between self-esteem, depression, and nurturing parenting practices, with a special emphasis on differences between full-term and preterm infant mothers. Using longitudinal and cross-sectional data, the lab employs advanced statistical methods such as bootstrapped mediation and conditional process analysis to explore psychological mechanisms and group-specific dynamics.

1본 연구는 만삭아 및 미숙아 어머니를 대상으로 자아존중감이 온정적 양육행동에 미치는 영향에서 우울의 매개효과와 어머니 집단에 따른 조절된 매개효과를 검증하였다. 한국아동패널 5차년도(2008년)의 횡단적 단일 시점 자료를활용하여 결측치를 제외한 어머니 1,597명(만삭아 1,519명, 미숙아 78명)을 대상으로 하였으며, 매개효과(Model 4), 조절효과(Model 1), 조절된 매개효과(Model 14) 분석을 부트스트래핑(10,000회, 95% 신뢰구간)으로 실시하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 어머니 자아존중감은 온정적 양육행동에 직접적인 정적 영향을 미칠 뿐 아니라 우울을 매개로 한 간접효과도유의하여 부분 매개가 확인되었다. 둘째, 어머니 우울과 온정적 양육행동 간 관계에서 어머니 집단의 조절효과가 나타나, 우울 수준이 높을수록 만삭아 어머니 집단에서는 온정적 양육이 감소한 반면 미숙아 어머니 집단에서는 상대적으로 증가하는 상호작용 효과가 관찰되었다. 셋째, 자아존중감, 우울, 온정
