Professor Jin Hyuk Choi's research lab focuses on interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of applied mathematics, quantum physics, and biomedical sciences. The lab investigates nonlinear dynamics and exact solutions of fractional and integral order evolution equations, contributing to mathematical physics and applied analysis. It also explores quantum entanglement measures, particularly through novel frameworks like SCREN, to understand multiparty quantum correlations. Additionally, the lab conducts clinical and translational research on biomarkers in HER2-positive breast cancer and pediatric spinal cord abnormalities, emphasizing diagnostic imaging and treatment response prediction.

15Accurate estimation of the exposure-response relationship between ambient urban particulate matters (PM) and public health is important for regulatory perspective of ambient urban particulate matters (PM). Ambient PM contains various transition metals and organic compounds. PM10 (aerodynamic diameter less than 10 micro m) is known to induce diverse diseases such as chronic cough, bronchitis, chest illness, etc. However, recent evaluation of PM2.5 (aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 micro m) agai
We propose the square of convex-roof extended negativity (SCREN) as a powerful candidate to characterize strong monogamy of multiparty quantum entanglement. We first provide a strong monogamy inequality of multiparty entanglement using SCREN and show that the tangle-based multiqubit strong-monogamy inequality can be rephrased by SCREN. We further show that the SCREN strong-monogamy inequality is still true for the counterexamples that violate tangle-based the strong-monogamy inequality in higher
The human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is amplified in approximately 20% of breast cancers, and HER2 receptor targeting therapy is associated with a significant improvement in disease-free and overall survival. In several clinical trials, the pathologic complete response (pCR) rate was significantly increased with combined pertuzumab and trastuzumab treatment in HER2-amplified breast cancer. Although the efficacy and safety of anti-HER2 dual blockade therapy has been reported, the m
PURPOSE: Sacral dimples are a common cutaneous anomaly in infants. Spine ultrasonography (USG) is an effective and safe screening tool for patients with a sacral dimple. The aim of this study was to determine the clinical manifestations in patients with an isolated sacral dimple and to review the management of spinal cord abnormalities identified with USG. METHODS: We reviewed clinical records and collected data on admissions for a sacral dimple from March 2014 through February 2017 that were ev
In this paper, we construct the family of traveling wave solutions for various kinds of nonlinear integral and fractional order evolution equations with variable coefficients. Specifically, we consider the (2+1)-dimensional Calogero-Bogoyavlenskii-Schiff equation and (1+1)-dimensional Benney-Luke equation as integeral order partial differential equations and the combined KdV-mKdV equation with time-dependent coefficients as fractional order partial differential equation. More precisely, the impr
In this paper, we construct new exact solutions of the reaction–diffusion equation with time dependent variable coefficients by employing the mathematical computation via the Painlevé test. We describe the behaviors and their interactions of the obtained solutions under certain constraints and various variable coefficients.
Reaction-diffusion models are used in different areas of chemistry problems. Also, coupled reaction-diffusion systems describing the spatio-temporal dynamics of competition models have been widely applied in many real world problems. In this paper, we consider a coupled fractional system with diffusion and competition terms in ecology, and reaction-diffusion growth model of fractional order with Allee effect describing and analyzing the spread dynamic of a single population under different dispe
Colorectal cancer with bone metastasis as initial manifestation is a very rare event. We have reported a case of rectal cancer presenting with sternal metastasis. A 30 year-old man was evaluated due to pain in the sternal area with a bulging mass. History and physical examination did not suggest any specific disease. A radionuclide bone scan revealed increased uptake in the sternal area, right 6th rib, and sacrum. Microscopic examination of a biopsy specimen from the sternum showed metastatic ad
We construct new explicit solutions of the Wick-type stochastic reaction-Duffing equation arising from mathematical physics with the help of the white noise theory and the system technique. Based on these exact solutions, we also discuss the influences of stochastic effects for dynamical behaviors according to functionsh1</mml
