Professor Jin Hyung Kim's research lab focuses on biomedical and biophysical investigations spanning ophthalmology, aging biology, and retinal physiology, with a strong emphasis on oxidative stress, retinal structure-function relationships, and clinical outcomes in ocular diseases. The lab explores the role of antioxidant systems like superoxide dismutase in skin aging, evaluates retinal layer changes in myopia and diabetic peripheral neuropathy using advanced imaging (OCT), and examines postoperative pain management and surgical techniques in ophthalmic surgery. Additionally, the lab extends into nanoscale optoelectronic systems, particularly quantum dot–graphene heterostructures for tunable synaptic devices. These diverse yet interconnected research directions reflect a translational approach from molecular mechanisms to clinical applications and emerging nanotechnologies.
