Professor Jin Nam Kim's research lab focuses on reproductive biology, particularly primordial germ cell (PGC) isolation, manipulation, and application in transgenic animal production, with an emphasis on avian species such as chickens and quails. The lab also investigates metabolic disorders, including diabetes, by exploring the therapeutic potential of bioactive compounds like chitosan oligosaccharides and black soybean anthocyanins in modulating glucose metabolism and inflammation. Additionally, the lab contributes to virology and immunology research, especially in understanding T cell responses to SARS-CoV-2 variants and the pathogenesis of rare neurological infections like progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML).
