研究室紹介

Professor Jin Su Song's research lab focuses on nutritional epidemiology and dietary patterns in relation to chronic disease risk factors among Korean populations. The lab investigates the associations between dietary intake—particularly macronutrients, dietary fiber, and glycemic load—and metabolic and cardiovascular health outcomes, with a strong emphasis on sex-specific differences and longitudinal trends. Research spans multiple population groups, including adults and adolescents, using large-scale national health and nutrition survey data to inform public health policy and intervention strategies.

Gender Differences in the Association between Dietary Pattern and the Incidence of Hypertension in Middle-Aged and Older Adults
SuJin Song, Jiwon Kim, Jiwon Kim, Jihye Kim, Jihye Kim
SJR Q1NutrientsOA

We examined gender differences in the association between dietary patterns and the risk of hypertension, using the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study data. A total of 5090 participants (2457 men and 2633 women) aged 40–69 years without hypertension at baseline were selected. Dietary patterns were obtained using factor analysis based on 26 food groups, evaluated by a validated semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire at baseline. Hypertension was defined as systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 m

Dietary Fiber and Its Source Are Associated with Cardiovascular Risk Factors in Korean Adults
SuJin Song, YoonJu Song
SJR Q1NutrientsOA

We examined the associations of dietary fiber and its source with cardiovascular risk factors in Korean adults. This cross-sectional study involved 16,792 adults from the 2013–2018 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data. Dietary data were obtained using a 24 h recall method and used to evaluate intakes of total dietary fiber and its source and fruit consumption. Cardiovascular risk factors included obesity, abdominal obesity, metabolic syndrome, hypercholesterolemia, hyperte

Trends in Dietary Intake of Total Fat and Fatty Acids Among Korean Adolescents from 2007 to 2017
SuJin Song, Jae Eun Shim
SJR Q1NutrientsOA

We analyzed the trends in dietary intake of total fat and fatty acids among Korean adolescents during 2007-2017. A total of 6406 adolescents from the 2007-2017 Korea National Health and Examination Surveys were selected. Total fat and fatty acids intakes were calculated based on single 24-hour recall data and presented as grams (g) and percentage of energy intake (% kcal) across the survey period. Linear trends in intake across the survey period were compared using the multiple regression model.

SJR Q2British Journal Of NutritionOA

In the present study, we examined the associations of total carbohydrate intake, dietary glycaemic load (DGL) and white rice intake with metabolic syndrome risk factors by sex in Korean adolescents. For the present cross-sectional study, data from the Fourth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2007-9) were used. A total of 2209 adolescents (n 1164 boys and n 1045 girls) aged 10-18 years with complete anthropometric, biochemical and dietary intake data were included in the stu

National nutrition surveys in Asian countries: surveillance and monitoring efforts to improve global health.
SuJin Song, Won O. Song
PubMed

Asian regions have been suffering from growing double burden of nutritional health problems, such as undernutrition and chronic diseases. National nutrition survey plays an essential role in helping to improve both national and global health and reduce health disparities. The aim of this review was to compile and present the information on current national nutrition surveys conducted in Asian countries and suggest relevant issues in implementation of national nutrition surveys. Fifteen countries

SJR Q1Public Health NutritionOA

OBJECTIVE: To investigate trends in total fat and fatty acid intakes and chronic health conditions among Korean adults over nine years between 2007 and 2015. DESIGN: Cross-sectional, observational study using a stratified, multistage probability sampling design at a national level. Intakes of total fat and fatty acids were estimated from 24 h dietary recalls by sex and age groups. Trends of total fat and fatty acid intakes were determined by multiple linear regression after adjusting for covaria

Association between Unhealthful Plant-Based Diets and Possible Risk of Dyslipidemia
SuJin Song, Kyueun Lee, Soim Park, Nara Shin, Hyunju Kim, Jihye Kim
SJR Q1NutrientsOA

The relationship between the various types of diets derived from plants and vulnerability of dyslipidemia has rarely been investigated, and limited data exist in Asians whose dietary pattern is fairly different from that of the Western population. We aim to analyze the relationship between three plant-based diet indices (PDI) and the risk of dyslipidemia. Participants included 173,209 Korean adults who were aged ≥40 years from the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study_Health Examination (2004–201
