研究室紹介
Professor Jin-Seok Park's research lab focuses on neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s disease and mild cognitive impairment, with an emphasis on identifying EEG-based biomarkers for early diagnosis. The lab also investigates rare neurodegenerative diseases such as hereditary gelsolin amyloidosis and the neurological consequences of substance abuse, including nitrous oxide-induced neuropathy. Additionally, the lab explores non-pharmacological interventions, such as forest-based health programs, for cognitive and emotional well-being. A growing interest in the lab involves applying machine learning to speech and language processing, particularly in low-resource or text-label-free settings for language identification.

15Alzheimer's disease (AD) causes a rapid deterioration in cognitive and physical functions, including problem-solving, memory, language, and daily activities. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is considered a risk factor for AD, and early diagnosis and treatment of MCI may help slow the progression of AD. Electroencephalography (EEG) analysis has become an increasingly popular tool for developing biomarkers for MCI and AD diagnosis. Compared with healthy elderly, patients with AD showed very clear

Background: Nitrous oxide (N2O) is used in surgery and dentistry for its anesthetic and analgesic effects. However, neurological and psychiatric manifestations of N2O abuse have been increasingly reported among Korean adults. The aim of this study was to demonstrate laboratory findings of N2O abuse in Korean patients. Methods: Patients diagnosed with N2O-induced neuropathy or myelopathy from August 2018 to December 2019 were enrolled. Their clinical presentations and laboratory and imaging findin
Hereditary gelsolin amyloidosis, a rare autosomal dominant hereditary disease, is caused by pathogenic variants in the gelsolin (GSN) gene.1 It is characterized by slowly progressive cranial and peripheral nerve degeneration, corneal lattice dystrophy, and loss of skin turgor (cutis laxa).1 However, it may be misdiagnosed as slowly progressive motor neuron disease (MND) or progressive bulbar palsy (PBP) owing to symptomatic similarity.2 Here, we describe two patients with GSN amyloidosis with a
Language identification (LID) recognizes the language of a spoken utterance automatically. According to recent studies, LID models trained with an automatic speech recognition (ASR) task perform better than those trained with a LID task only. However, we need additional text labels to train the model to recognize speech, and acquiring the text labels is a cost high. In order to overcome this problem, we propose context-aware language identification using a combination of unsupervised and supervi
Conclusions For rotating the nipple areolar complex upward during correction of small ptotic breasts with implants, the type III dual plane technique is an effective way to produce a larger volume pocket in the lower pole of the breast. More lever age effect can be obtained by using a shorter height and greater projection type of shaped implant instead of a full height implant.
Total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) is regard as a gold standard for intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring (IONM). Meanwhile, TIVA could induce a substantial reduction of cerebral blood volume and affect to hemodynamic and cardiovascular parameters. Inhalational anesthetics have relatively smaller impact on patients than intravenous anesthesia. But it could affect IONM modality especially in motor evoked potentials (MEP). We experienced four cases with inhalational anesthesia in IONM. Acc
Field-emission characteristics of carbon nanotubes(CNTs), which were grown on conical-type tungsten micro-tips by using an electrophoretic deposition(EPD) method, were examined. The EPD method proved to be convenient to manipulate and arrange CNTs from well dispersed suspensions onto such tip-type substrates. The growth rate of CNTs was proportional to the applied d.c. bias voltage and the process time. It was observed from the Raman study that the EPD-produced CNTs showed better crystal qualiti
Intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring (IONM), including somatosensory evoked potential (SEP), and transcranial electric motor evoked potential (MEP), had been utilized during brain or spine surgery to identify neurologic deficits. But some neurologic deficits, such as abulia, could not be detected through routine IONM. MEP or SEP might not monitor non-motor or sensory lesions during surgery. We experienced a 72-year-old case with an anterior communicating aneurysm who experienced abulia aft

Background Synmastia is serious condition but rare. Synmastia is a technical complication caused by over dissection of the medial pocket over the sternum. In sunken chest, the medial portion of Pectoralis muscle tends to be elevated easily from the sternocostal area. So it should be more careful to prevent from overdissection in breast augmentation of sunken chest. Methods An idea was obtained from buttock augmentation with implant. For buttock augmentation, implants are placed intramuscularly f
