研究室紹介
Professor Jiyeon Kim's research lab focuses on metabolic and cardiovascular health, with a strong emphasis on the physiological and molecular mechanisms underlying insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The lab investigates the impact of lifestyle interventions—particularly resistance and aerobic exercise—on glucose metabolism, cardiac function, and neurotrophic factors such as BDNF. Additionally, the lab explores cardiovascular risk markers, including non-HDL cholesterol trajectories, and their genetic and metabolic underpinnings in adult populations. The integration of clinical physiology, metabolic phenotyping, and translational research defines the lab’s multidisciplinary approach.

15Our results suggest that regular resistance training initiated at the onset of diabetes can improve glucose tolerance and GLUT4 expression without changing muscle morphology in Zucker rats.
BACKGROUND: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) shares common risk factors with cardiovascular diseases. Effects of longitudinal trends in non-high-density lipoprotein (non-HDL) cholesterol on NAFLD development are not understood. This study aimed to assess the relationship between non-HDL cholesterol trajectories and the incidence of NAFLD and to identify genetic differences contributing to NAFLD development between non-HDL cholesterol trajectory groups. METHODS: We analyzed data from 220
OBJECTIVES: Impedance cardiography (ICG) is a noninvasive technique that provides reasonably accurate measurements of cardiac output, but the usefulness of ICG in patients undergoing open abdominal surgery has not been validated. METHODS: Cardiac output was measured while patients underwent open gastrectomy using an ICG monitor (niccomo™; ICG-CO); the results were compared with those measured using a FloTrac™/Vigileo™ monitor (Flo-CO), which measures cardiac output by analysing the arterial wave
Domestic digital signage industry has been growing in line with the Internet and intelligent devices like smart phones. However, policies for digital signage need to be supplemented because existing policies are only focused on regulations for outdoor advertisements. Moreover, while digital technologies have been developed, there are few contents technologies to support the digital technologies. In this context, this research aims to identify the problems in relation to the domestic digital sign
The purpose of this study was to regular physical activity on cardio-respirtory fitness and serum BDNF in adolescence. Subjects were regular physical activity group(age 12.80±1.86, n=15), control group(age 12.60±1.81, n=15). We tested maximal oxygen uptake using graded exercise test to investigate a correlation on body fat, BDNF and cardio-respirtory fitness. Results, there was statistically significant difference on body fat, BDNF and cardio-respirtory fitness between regular physical activity
To investigate the epidemiologic relatedness of Brucella abortus isolates from Chinese water deer (Hydropotes inermis) and goral (Naemorhedus goral raddeanus) in 2010-2011, 22l isolates from livestock (including domestic elk, Cervus canadensis) were analyzed using the multilocus variable-number tandem repeats analysis. In the clustering analysis, Korean B. abortus isolates were divided into 40 genotypes by 18 markers, and 2 B. abortus isolates from wildlife were clustered with those of domestic
Since 2011, South Korea has implemented biannual vaccinations against foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) and recently, lumpy skin disease (LSD), to mitigate the spread of transboundary animal diseases. However, due to past adverse reactions, potentially linked to acute phase responses from FMD vaccinations, there is hesitancy among Korean livestock farmers regarding new strategies for simultaneous vaccinations against both FMD and LSD. This study was conducted to assess possible adverse reactions to t
Background/Aims: The aim of this study was to compare the clinical features and outcomes of ulcerative colitis (UC) according to the age of onset in Korea. Methods: A total of 1,141 patients who were diagnosed with UC between July 1987 and November 2013 at 11 tertiary hospitals were enrolled. The baseline disease characteristic and disease state at onset, treatment during the disease course were retrospectively reviewed among patients with young-onset (YO, < 20 years) and adult-onset (AO, ≥ 20 y
