Professor Jiyoung Geum's research lab focuses on advancing the management and outcomes of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), with a strong emphasis on nutritional support, early detection in high-risk populations, and optimizing chemotherapy strategies. The lab investigates the role of mobile health interventions like the Noom app in improving patient nutrition during chemotherapy, explores the predictive factors for novel chemotherapy regimens such as liposomal irinotecan plus 5-FU/LV, and examines the clinical implications of new-onset diabetes as a potential early marker for PDAC. Additionally, the lab contributes to clinical guidelines aimed at minimizing radiation exposure in fluoroscopy-guided interventional procedures.

As fluoroscopy-guided interventional procedures gain popularity, the associated health threats from radiation exposure to interventionalists during these procedures are increasing. Therefore, an understanding of the potential risks of radiation and careful consideration on minimizing exposure to radiation during the procedures are of paramount importance.
