Professor Jong-Chang Ahn's research lab focuses on the intersection of information systems, e-commerce, and environmental engineering, with two primary research directions: (1) understanding user behavior and system success in social networking site (SNS)-based commerce, including factors influencing online donation intentions, information quality, and service quality; and (2) optimizing water distribution system management through advanced modeling of pipe breakage, chlorine decay, and disinfection byproducts using artificial intelligence and field-based data. The lab integrates behavioral science with engineering solutions to address real-world challenges in digital commerce and public health infrastructure.

15The relationships between pipe breaks of service pipes and mains and several factors were examined. Historical pipe breaks, and water and soil temperatures were also modeled by an artificial neural network to predict pipe breaks for efficient management and maintenance of the pipe networks. It was observed that the breaks of pipes increased after the temperatures of water and soil crossed in spring and fall. The pipe breaks were closely related to water and soil temperature, especially mains wer
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the differences in the external factors influencing intention to donate via social network sites (SNSs), and the online donation knowledge and awareness effect on the willingness to donate via SNS in the future between Malaysian and South Korean users. Design/methodology/approach In total, 288 samples’ data obtained from online survey using the snowball technique were analyzed through using cross-tabulation with χ 2 tests and multiple regression an
This study aimed to examine how information quality (IQ) attributes affect perceived usefulness and customer satisfaction of SNS-based commerce from the perspective of Malaysian SNS users. Although many studies have been conducted to identify possible IQ attributes in the context of e-commerce, only a limited number of studies have tested and examined the direct effects of the IQ attributes on perceived usefulness and customer satisfaction, particularly in the s-commerce context (i.e., SNS-based
Although the information systems success model has been used widely in measuring the success of e-commerce, limited studies have been conducted focusing on identifying service quality (SQ) determinants that lead to the e-commerce success particularly s-commerce. This study examines the effect of SQ determinants on social networking site (SNS)-based commerce in the s-commerce context from the customer’s perspective by adapting the IS success model and combining it with a modification of SERVQUAL.
This study presents empirical evidence of the benefit of viewing narrative video clips on embedded virtual reality (VR) websites of hotels to relieve travel anxiety. As the effectiveness of using VR functions to relieve travel anxiety has been shown, we proposed that a VR website enhanced with narrative video clips could relieve travelers' anxiety about accommodations by showing the important aspects of a hotel. Thus, we created a website with a narrative video showing the escape route from a ho
When users begin to feel uncomfortable about the influence of social network services (SNSs) on their lives, they react with various discontinuance behaviors. This comparative study intends to provide a comprehensive explanation of how the fatigue or regret phenomenon is related to users’ diverse reactions against SNSs. This study attempts to answer two questions: (1) How do specific types of relationships influence social overload from SNS interactions on Facebook? and (2) How does social overl
This study aims to analyze whether technological changes in the fourth industrial revolution (4IR), as independent variables, can influence employment, a dependent variable. It categorizes scientific technology changes in the 4IR based on related research, and identifies six factors and corresponding research hypotheses. The paths for the six hypotheses were analyzed using 275 effective samples. Results show that life-convenience technology and blockchain technology variables significantly influ
Twelve sampling locations in a network from a water treatment plant to consumers' taps were selected for measuring residual chlorine loss, THMs, TOC, etc. and 24 hour sampling in the locations was conducted on a bimonthly basis for one year. Chlorine bulk decay and THM formation tests were carried out by bottle tests under controlled temperatures for three locations: a water treatment plant, a large service reservoir, and a pumping station. Water quality modelling of chlorine loss in the distrib
Today, IT governance has also become a subject of attention along with recent technologies such as ITSM (IT Service Management), PPM (Project Portfolio Management) and Compliance. At the national level, the market is fairly recent, and therefore, lacks detailed research in the field. Models specifically related to EIM has not yet been presented to this day, hence, firms that are considering EIM as a potential part of their information management system may fall into a state of disorder in the pr
This study discusses the employability of the workforce in relation to information communication technology. There is a difference in understanding in terms of items of importance/satisfaction during/after employment processes when considering organizations related to the information technology workforce. An empirical analysis of Korean employability based on literature from Asia was conducted. It indicated that differences in the perception of the 12 items comprising importance and satisfaction
