研究室紹介

Professor Jong-Hak Park's research lab focuses on translational and clinical research in oncology, critical care medicine, and occupational health. The lab investigates biomarkers and genetic factors influencing cancer susceptibility and treatment response, particularly in prostate and head and neck cancers, while also exploring hemodynamic predictors and management strategies in sepsis and out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Additionally, the lab examines occupational health risks, especially respiratory outcomes in industrial settings.

Deletion Polymorphism of UDP-Glucuronosyltransferase 2B17 and Risk of Prostate Cancer in African American and Caucasian Men

PURPOSE: UDP-glucuronosyltransferases (UGT) are a family of enzymes that glucuronidate many endogenous chemicals, including androgens. This makes them more hydrophilic, alters biological activity, and facilitates their excretion. A deletion polymorphism in the UGT2B17 gene was recently described that was associated with a reduced rate of glucuronidation in vivo. The purpose of this study was to determine if the deletion polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to prostate cancer. MATERIALS

Vasoactive-Inotropic Score as an Early Predictor of Mortality in Adult Patients with Sepsis
Juhyun Song, Hanjin Cho, Dae Won Park, Sungwoo Moon, Joo Yeong Kim, Sejoong Ahn, Seong-Geun Lee, Jong-Hak Park
SJR Q1Journal of Clinical MedicineOA

Vasoactive and inotropic medications are essential for sepsis management; however, the association between the maximum Vasoactive-Inotropic score (VISmax) and clinical outcomes is unknown in adult patients with sepsis. We investigated the VISmax as a predictor for mortality among such patients in the emergency department (ED) and compared its prognostic value with that of the sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score. This single-center retrospective study included 910 patients diagnosed

Predictive value of peripheral lymphocyte counts for immune checkpoint inhibitor efficacy in advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Jong-Hak Park, Julia Durbeck, John L. Clark
SJR Q3Molecular and Clinical OncologyOA

Anti‑programmed death 1 (PD‑1) immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICI) have revolutionized the treatment of advanced head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) but benefit only a small subset of patients. Several studies have previously assessed the predictive value of peripheral lymphocyte count for ICI therapy responses; however the optimal lymphocyte measure for the best predictive value in HNSCC is unknown. The present study examined the predictive values of multiple p

Intra-Abdominal Abscess Drainage: Interval to Surgery
Jong-Hak Park, Hearns W. Charles
SJR Q3Seminars in Interventional RadiologyOA

Placement of percutaneous drainage catheters has become first-line therapy in the treatment of patients with intra-abdominal abscesses. Catheters can be used to avoid surgical intervention or to improve surgical outcomes. This article discusses the current evidence describing the optimal interval between percutaneous drainage procedures and surgery, focusing on patients with Crohn's disease, appendicitis, and diverticulitis.

Factors Related to the Prevalence of Respiratory Symptoms in Workers in a Petrochemical Complex
Jong-Hak Park, Chul‐Gab Lee, So‐Yeon Ryu
SJR Q1Journal of Occupational HealthOA

This study was performed to evaluate the prevalence of respiratory symptoms in workers in a petrochemical complex and to elucidate the relationship between the prevalence and work-related factors. A questionnaire was distributed to 5,983 male workers working in a petrochemical complex. As for the respiratory symptoms, cough was present in 2.4%, phlegm in 8.1%, wheezing in 2.8% and shortness of breath in 4.7% of the workers. The factors significantly related to respiratory symptoms were smoking h

SJR Q1ResuscitationOA

In the PSM cohort, women with OHCA underwent CAG and PCI less frequently than men, regardless of the initial rhythm. However, these sex-related differences narrowed with increasing age. Further studies are needed to confirm the sex-related disparities in the in-hospital management of patients with OHCA.

SJR Q1Scientific ReportsOA

Sex differences in the in-hospital management of sepsis exist. Previous studies either included patients with sepsis that was defined using previous definitions of sepsis or evaluated the 3-h bundle therapy. Therefore, this study sought to assess sex differences in 1-h bundle therapy and in-hospital management among patients with sepsis and septic shock, defined according to the Sepsis-3 definitions. This observational study used data from Korean Shock Society (KoSS) registry, a prospective mult

SJR Q2Disaster Medicine and Public Health Preparedness

The Sewol ferry disaster is one of the most tragic events in Korea's modern history. Among the 476 people on board, which included Danwon High School students (324) and teachers (14), 304 passengers died in the disaster (295 recovered corpses and 9 missing) and 172 survived. Of the rescued survivors, 72 were attending Danwon High School, located in Ansan City, and residing in a residence nearby. Because the students were young, emotionally susceptible adolescents, both the government and the par

SJR Q1Clinical and Experimental Emergency MedicineOA

RIDT results had a critical effect on physician decision-making regarding antiviral treatment for patients with influenza-like illnesses in the emergency department. However, symptom onset in less than 48 hours, old age, and comorbidities, which are all indications for antiviral therapy, were not found to influence the administration of antiviral treatment.
