研究室紹介

Professor Jong-ki Jo's research lab specializes in urological and urodynamic technologies, focusing on improving post-surgical recovery and lower urinary tract health. The lab investigates clinical outcomes following prostatectomy, particularly the role of phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibitors in erectile function recovery, and explores innovative wearable technologies for continuous bladder volume monitoring. Research also extends to epidemiological studies on lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), overactive bladder (OAB), and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), with a focus on identifying modifiable risk factors in the Korean population. Additionally, the lab examines the interplay between metabolic health—such as lipid profiles and BMI—and mental health outcomes, including depression and suicidal ideation.

SJR Q1SensorsOA

Accurate measurement of bladder volume is an important tool for evaluating bladder function. In this study, we propose a wearable bladder scanner system that can continuously measure bladder volume in daily life for urinary patients who need urodynamic studies. The system consisted of a 2-D array, which included integrated forward-looking piezoelectric transducers with thin substrates. This study aims to estimate the volume of the bladder using a small number of piezoelectric transducers. A leas

Korean journal of urologyOA

The prevalence of OAB in our study was about 14.1% and the risk factors for OAB were educational status, stroke, osteoporosis, asthma, rhinitis, and cataract. Knowledge of these risk factors may help in the diagnosis and treatment of OAB.

SJR Q2International Neurourology JournalOA

PURPOSE: This study estimated the prevalence of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in Korean men and the conditions for being diagnosed with or treated for LUTS/benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). METHODS: We analyzed cross-sectional data collected from 69,851 Korean men who were 40 years of age or older and had participated in the Korean Community Health Survey performed in 2011. Interviewers performed face-to-face surveys that included sociodemographic questions, the International Prostate Sy

SJR Q1Journal of Clinical MedicineOA

(1) Background: Serum lipid levels affect not only nutritional status but also emotional state. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of various socio-demographic characteristics, abnormal cholesterol levels, and BMI indicators on depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation in the Korean population. (2) Methods: A total of 23,692 people were surveyed using data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (KNHNES) 2014, 2016, and 2018. Data from 11,653 patients we

Jung Ki Jo, Sung Ho Shinn, Kyu Shik Kim, Hong Sang Moon
SJR Q2International Neurourology JournalOA

PURPOSE: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is associated with lower urinary tract symptoms and negatively affects the quality of life. We aimed to investigate the treatment pattern of BPH in South Korea. METHODS: Information on treatment modalities and diagnoses of BPH was obtained from the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service-Aged Patient Sample. Data on BPH patients aged ≥60 years from 2012 to 2016 were obtained. We surveyed the treatment pattern of BPH, including the types of drugs

SJR Q1SensorsOA

(1) Background: Non-invasive uroflowmetry is used in clinical practice for diagnosing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and the health status of a patient. To establish a smart system for measuring the flowrate during urination without any temporospatial constraints for patients with a urinary disorder, the acoustic signatures from the uroflow of patients being treated for LUTS at a tertiary hospital were utilized. (2) Methods: Uroflowmetry data were collected for construction and verification

SJR Q1SensorsOA

Erection measurements are the most important indicator of male urological disease diagnosis, treatment, and results. Rigiscan has been used widely in studies and diagnoses for nocturnal penile tumescence for evaluating erectile dysfunction by measuring the number and timing of erectile dysfunctions during sleep. However, this device has limitations such as the weight and bulk of the device and has been questioned for its role as a standard for ED Erectile Dysfunction (ED) diagnosis. In this stud

Randomized Controlled Trials In Endourology: A Quality Assessment
Jung Ki Jo, Riccardo Autorino, Jae Hoon Chung, Kyu Shik Kim, Jeong Woo Lee, Eun Jung Baek, Seung Wook Lee
SJR Q1Journal of EndourologyOA

There has been a growing number of Journal of Endourology publications reporting on RTC over the last two decades. The quality of reporting for these studies remains suboptimal, however. Researchers should focus on a more appropriate description of key features of any given RCT, such as randomization and allocation methods, as well as disclosure of IRB review and financial support.
