Professor Jong-Hoon Kim's research lab specializes in the development of smart, multifunctional theranostic agents for precision cancer therapy. The lab focuses on designing stimuli-responsive prodrugs and nanotherapeutics that combine targeted delivery, enzyme or organelle-specific activation, and real-time diagnostic monitoring—particularly through mitochondrial targeting and reactive oxygen species (ROS)-responsive systems. Key innovations include biotin-mediated tumor targeting, near-infrared laser-induced hyperthermia, and integration of photosensitizers with anti-angiogenic agents to overcome limitations like hypoxia in photodynamic therapy.
