Fine needle aspiration (FNA) is the procedure of choice for evaluating thyroid nodules. It is indicated for nodules >2 cm, even in cases of very low suspicion of malignancy. FNA has associated risks and expenses. In this study, we developed an image analysis model using a deep learning algorithm and evaluated if the algorithm could predict thyroid nodules with benign FNA results.Ultrasonographic images of thyroid nodules with cytologic or histologic results were retrospectively collected. For al
BACKGROUND: Although using the technologies for a variety of chronic health conditions such as personal health record (PHR) is reported to be acceptable and useful, there is a lack of evidence on the associations between the use of the technologies and the change of health outcome and patients' response to a digital health app. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to examine the impact of the use of PHR and wearables on health outcome improvement and sustained use of the health app that can be associated
Due to the prevalence of personal health tracking, cases of self-logged data being utilized in the clinic are gradually increasing. However, obstacles to clinicians' ability to further adopt such data-driven medical consultations in the existing workflow remain, such as lack of time and poor interoperability. In this paper, we conducted a workshop to design a clinician interface supporting the integration of data-driven consultation into the existing workflow and investigate the role of the inte
As teen stress and its negative consequences are on the rise, several studies have attempted to tend to their emotional needs through conversational agents (CAs). However, these attempts have focused on increasing human-like traits of agents, thereby overlooking the possible advantage of machine inherits, such as lack of emotion or the ability to perform calculations. Therefore, this paper aims to shed light on the machine inherits of CAs to help satisfy the emotional needs of teenagers. We cond
By enabling people to track their lifestyles, including activity level, sleeping, and diet, technology helps clinicians to treat patients suffering from "lifestyle diseases." However, despite its importance compared to other lifestyle factors, it is not easy to record food intake consistently. Although researchers have attempted to solve this problem, most have not considered its applicability in the clinical context. In this paper, we aim to (1) understand food-journaling practices and (2) expl
As smartphones can handle work and leisure activities simultaneously, cyberslacking and the collapse of work-life balance are causing social problems. Hence, in this study we analyzed users’ smartphone usage behavior and the transition pattern between work and non-work behaviors using log data collected automatically from an actual site. The collected log data were divided into four types of sessions according to work-related characteristics. No significant difference was found in frequency, usa
Although a short-term lifestyle modification approach using a mobile app was more effective in achieving weight reduction, improvement in OSA was not so significant. Long-term efficacy of this mobile app should be evaluated in the future studies.
To understand the dynamics of the contemporary art and cultural sector in Korea, multi-disciplinary approach that encompasses the interplay of creation, media, and consumption is needed. As the culture industry is growing, importance of reliable studies on the landscape of cultural consumption has been increased. However, there have been many challenges for estimating the individual level of consuming behaviors. While the existing papers describe the result of survey or interviews, this study is
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, video conferencing platforms have given rise to new virtual activities, such as virtual study rooms where users utilize video to share ambient presence for study motivation. In virtual study rooms, it can be challenging for the users to determine what to reveal and what to hide on camera, as the video needs to strongly convey their presence without revealing more than necessary. In this paper, we investigate the conflicting needs of virtual study room users to reveal
