Professor Joo Heung Lee's research lab focuses on translational biomedical research spanning oral tissue biomechanics, cancer signaling pathways, and inflammatory skin disorders. The lab investigates the mechanical behavior of dental hard tissues, the role of AKT isoforms in non-small cell lung cancer, and the clinical and immunological distinctions between intrinsic and extrinsic atopic dermatitis. Additionally, the lab explores dermatological conditions such as vitiligo and acne, with an emphasis on developing clinically relevant grading systems and treatment prediction tools for Asian populations. These diverse yet interconnected research directions highlight a strong commitment to improving diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes in dermatology and oral medicine.
