Professor Joo Seok Lee's research lab focuses on pediatric respiratory diseases, with a primary emphasis on understanding the epidemiology, etiology, and clinical management of community-acquired pneumonia, particularly due to *Mycoplasma pneumoniae* in children. The lab investigates antimicrobial resistance patterns, including macrolide-refractory and macrolide-sensitive strains, and explores the clinical and demographic factors influencing disease progression. Additionally, the lab examines the interplay between chronic pediatric conditions—such as asthma, atopic dermatitis, and obesity—and mental health outcomes in adolescents, highlighting the importance of integrated, patient-centered care. The research also extends to identifying asthma phenotypes and clusters in Korean children to support personalized treatment strategies.

목 적 : 아토피피부염은 피부의 만성 염증질환으로 최근에는 이러한 아토피피부염을 IgE 매개성과 비 IgE 매개성으로 나누고 있으며 양자 간에서는 임상적 증상과 자연경과에서 차이를 보이는 것으로 보고되고 있다. 그러나 이러한 분류에 이용되는 흡입성항원에 대한 피부단자시험이 어려운 경우가 있어 본 저자들은 CAP system을 이용한 혈청검사가 이러한 분류에 유용하게 사용될 수 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다.방 법 : 2002년 6월부터 2005년 2월까지 마산삼성병원 소아과에 내원하였던 5세이상 15세 이하의 아토피피부염 환아 110명을 대상으로 혈청 총 IgE 농도와 집먼지진드기, 난백, 우유, 대두에 대한 특이 IgE농도를 CAP-FEIA을 이용하여 측정하였으며 천식으로 의심되는 경우 환아의 증상과 메타콜린 흡입 후 측정한 기도과민성이 PC20가 8 mg/mL 이하인 경우를 종합하여 천식으로 진단하였고 알레르기비염의 진단은 ARIA guideline을 이용하였다. 결 과 : IgE
