Professor Joo Whan Kim's research lab specializes in neurosurgical and neurological research, with a focus on stereotactic radiosurgery for brain metastases, spinal and cranial malformations, and the molecular classification of pediatric brain tumors. The lab investigates innovative surgical techniques—such as arthroscopic scaphoid excision and four-corner arthrodesis—and contributes to seismic monitoring following significant earthquakes in Korea. A key emphasis is on improving clinical outcomes through advanced molecular diagnostics, including NanoString-based subgrouping of medulloblastoma, to guide personalized treatment strategies.

This study presents our technique of arthroscopic scaphoid excision and four-corner arthrodesis and compares the clinical and radiological outcomes with those achieved with the open method. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) plays an important role in brain tumors, including medulloblastoma (MBL). Recent advancements in mass spectrometry systems and 'Omics' data analysis methods enable unbiased, high proteome depth research.
