Professor Jun-Seok Lim's research lab specializes in medical imaging and diagnostic radiology, with a focus on improving the accuracy of cancer staging and treatment response prediction using advanced imaging techniques such as CT, PET, MRI, and diffusion-weighted imaging. The lab investigates the diagnostic performance of various imaging modalities in detecting peritoneal metastasis, lymph node involvement, and treatment response in gastrointestinal cancers, including gastric, rectal, and hepatocellular carcinomas. A key research direction involves the development and validation of quantitative imaging biomarkers—such as apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) and tumor volume reduction rates—for predicting outcomes in patients undergoing preoperative chemoradiotherapy.

15Stomach cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer mortality worldwide. Complete resection of a gastric tumor and adjacent lymph nodes represents the only potentially curative intervention. Computed tomography (CT) has remained the modality of choice for the preoperative staging of gastric cancer and for follow-up.
