Professor Jun-Won Yun's research lab specializes in nanotoxicology and nanomedicine, focusing on the safety and biological impacts of nanomaterials, particularly silica, silver, and iron oxide nanoparticles, in mammalian systems. The lab investigates the systemic and genotoxic effects of nanoparticles through long-term in vivo toxicity studies, with an emphasis on oral exposure and multi-organ responses. Additionally, the lab explores the therapeutic potential of engineered nanomaterials in cancer immunotherapy and metabolic diseases, including the use of core-shell nanoparticles for antigen delivery and modulation of metabolic pathways via adiponectin and AMPK signaling. A key research direction involves understanding how nanomaterials influence cellular communication, oxidative stress, and liver metabolism, particularly in the context of alcohol-induced liver injury and fatty liver disease.
