研究室紹介

Professor Jung Eon Lee's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer metastasis and the development of natural compounds as potential therapeutic agents. The lab investigates the roles of inflammatory cytokines, matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), and trace elements in cancer progression, particularly in breast and gastric cancers. Additionally, the lab contributes to energy storage technologies by developing advanced battery management systems (BMS) for improved state of charge and state of health estimation in lithium-ion batteries. The integration of biological and electrochemical research highlights the lab’s interdisciplinary approach to disease intervention and sustainable energy solutions.

Invasion of cancer cell induced by matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) is one of pivotal steps in cancer metastasis. Herein, we investigated how cell invasion was regulated by berberine (BBR), an isoquinoline derivative alkaloid compound, in MDA-MB-231 human breast cancer cells. The basal level of MMP-9 activity and expression was dose-dependently increased by TNF-alpha, while TNF-a-induced MMP-9 gelatinase activity and expression was decreased by BBR. To investigate regulatory mechanism of TNF-a

Enhanced Coulomb Counting Method for SoC and SoH Estimation Based on Coulombic Efficiency

The battery performance decreases as the charging/discharging cycles increase. Thus, a battery management system (BMS) is essential to properly estimating the battery states. In order to enhance the performance of the BMS, an accurate estimation method for lithium-ion batteries state is proposed. The main drawback of the coulomb counting method (CCM) for estimating a state of charge (SoC) is the error of initial value. To make-up this problem, the open circuit voltage (OCV) method which includes

The relationships between serum levels of trace elements and breast cancer remain relatively unknown. In this study, we investigate serum levels of seven trace elements in Korean breast cancer patients compared to controls without breast cancer. Serum trace element levels were determined using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry in Korean breast cancer patients before initiation of breast cancer treatment. Korean females without breast cancer served as a control group. Trace element lev

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha is one of the pro-inflammatory cytokines highly expressed in Helicobacter pylori that inhibits gastric acid secretion. In this study we determined the effect of silibinin on TNF-alpha-induced MMP-9 expression in gastric cancer cell lines. MMP-9 mRNA and protein expression was dose-dependently increased by TNF-alpha in SNU216 and SNU668 gastric cancer cells. On the other hand, TNF-alpha-induced MMP-9 expression was dose-dependently suppressed by silibinin. To ver

Inflammation is a key regulatory process in cancer development. Prolonged exposure of breast tumor cells to inflammatory cytokines leads to epithelial-mesenchymal transition, which is the principal mechanism involved in metastasis and tumor invasion. Interleukin (IL)-1β is a major inflammatory cytokine in a variety of tumors. To date, the regulatory mechanism of IL-1β-induced cell migration and invasion has not been fully elucidated. Here, we investigated the effect of zerumbone (ZER) on IL-1β-i

SJR Q2ElectronicsOA

Aging increases the internal resistance of a battery and reduces its capacity; therefore, energy storage systems (ESSs) require a battery management system (BMS) algorithm that can manage the state of the battery. This paper proposes a battery efficiency calculation formula to manage the battery state. The proposed battery efficiency calculation formula uses the charging time, charging current, and battery capacity. An algorithm that can accurately determine the battery state is proposed by appl
