研究室紹介

Professor Jung-Hye Choi's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying ovarian cancer and endometriosis, with a particular emphasis on the roles of reproductive hormones, growth factors, and metabolic regulators such as leptin and gonadotropins in tumor progression and disease pathogenesis. The lab investigates signaling pathways including Notch3, FSH receptor, and leptin receptor, exploring their contributions to cancer cell proliferation, migration, and survival. Using in vitro models and clinical samples, the lab aims to identify novel therapeutic targets for ovarian malignancies and endometriotic disorders.

Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 expression is associated with tumor cell proliferation and metastasis in gastric cancer

SJR Q1Apmis

The enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2), a member of the polycomb group of proteins, plays an important role in cell proliferation and cell cycle regulation. EZH2 is overexpressed in aggressive forms of prostate, breast, bladder, and endometrial cancers. However, the role of EZH2 expression in gastric cancer has not been fully determined. This study was conducted to investigate the correlation between EZH2 and cell cycle-related molecules, and the clinical value of EZH2 expression in gastric canc

Irisin, a novel exercise-induced myokine, has been suggested to regulate energy homeostasis and insulin sensitivity. However, it remains unclear whether circulating irisin plays a role in the development of DM in human. We investigated the possible association between circulating irisin levels and incident DM in a 2.6-year longitudinal study of a population-based cohort comprised of rural Korean subjects. We conducted a longitudinal study within the Korean Genome and Epidemiology Study on Atheros

Clinical Prognostic Values of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor, Microvessel Density, and p53 Expression in Esophageal Carcinomas

Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) is known to play a key role in tumor angiogenesis. The tumor-suppressor gene p53 has been thought to regulate VEGF. We investigated the effect of VEGF on esophageal carcinoma and the correlation between VEGF and p53. Tissue samples were taken from 81 patients with esophageal carcinoma after surgery. VEGF and p53 expressions were examined by immunohistochemical staining. Microvessels in the tumor stained for CD34 antigen were also counted. VEGF and p53 ex

The potential of deferasirox as a novel therapeutic modality in gastric cancer
Jung Hye Choi, Jung Soon Kim, Young‐Woong Won, Jieun Uhm, Byeong Bae Park, Young Yiul Lee
SJR Q1World Journal of Surgical OncologyOA

Our results suggest that deferasirox may exert anti-tumor effects in the context of gastric cancer. Deferasirox affects a number of different pathways and molecules; for instance, deferasirox upregulates NDRG1 expression, inhibits the cell cycle, downregulates mTOR and c-myc expression, and induces apoptosis. In addition, deferasirox appears to potentiate the anti-cancer effects of cisplatin. Although the efficacy of deferasirox remains to be tested in future studies, the results presented here

Lymph node metastasis is an important prognostic factor in gastric cancer. Vascular endothelial growth factor-D (VEGF-D) is a lymphangiogenic growth factor that activates VEGF receptor (VEGFR)-3, a receptor expressed in the lymphatic endothelium. We investigated the clinical value of VEGF-D expression and VEGFR-3 positive vessel density in gastric carcinoma with regard to lymphangiogenesis. Immunohistochemical staining was used to determine the expression of VEGF-D and VEGFR- 3 in specimens from

Anastomotic leak is one of the most serious complications after esophagectomy, and it occurs in 5 % – 29 % of patients [1]. Although there are no standardized methods for treating intrathoracic leakage, the treatment options include surgery, external drainage, and endoscopic treatment.

To investigate the role of angiogenesis in multiple myeloma (MM), bone marrow biopsy from 75 adults with newly diagnosed, untreated MM were evaluated. Microvessels were scored in at least 3 areas ( x 200 fields) of the highest microvessel density in representative sections of each bone marrow specimen using immunohistochemistry for CD34. Prognostic variables were also evaluated for the overall survival. Microvessel counts were significantly higher in patients with MM (n=69.42+/-9.67), compared w

SJR Q3Internal MedicineOA

Diffuse nodular lymphoid hyperplasia of the gastrointestinal tract is a rare disease characterized by numerous small polypoid nodules in the small intestine, large intestine, or both. It is associated with immunodeficiency and infection, such as Giardia lamblia and Helicobacter pylori. Although diffuse nodular lymphoid hyperplasia associated with common variable immunodeficiency (CVID) and giardiasis is already known, a few studies have reported a regression of the lymphoid nodules after the era

Journal of Korean Medical Science

Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders (PTLD) are a heterogeneous group of lymphoproliferative disorders associated with immunosuppression and Epstein-Barr virus infection. PTLD is classified into three major categories: early lesions, polymorphic PTLD, and monomorphic PTLD. The majority of monomorphic PTLD cases are non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma of B-cell origin. This retrospective study was conducted to investigate the incidence, clinical manifestation, treatment, and outcomes of monomorphic PT
