Professor Jung-Hyun Jeon's research lab specializes in radiochemistry and molecular imaging, with a focus on the development of fluorine-18 labeled radiotracers for positron emission tomography (PET). The lab pioneers innovative nucleophilic radiofluorination techniques to synthesize complex radiotracers for targeting neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, particularly through tau protein imaging. Their work bridges nuclear medicine, organic chemistry, and biomedical engineering, emphasizing high specific radioactivity and efficient radiosynthesis using automated modules. The lab also explores theoretical particle physics models, such as leptophobic $Z^\prime$ models, to understand fundamental physics constraints in high-energy phenomena.

Benefits of active middle ear implants over hearing aids in patients with sloping high tone hearing loss: comparison with hearing aids

Organometallic fluorine-18 bonds in 18F-radiochemistry

Fluorine-18 is by far the most widely exploited radionuclide in PET (positron emission tomography) radiochemistry. The physical half-life of fluorine-18 allows for chemical manipulation within a restricted timeframe, and cyclotron-produced fluoride ion has been widely applied in aliphatic and aromatic nucleophilic radiofluorinations to produce a variety of established radiotracers. Radiotracers have become more structurally complicated to address diverse targets in physiobiological systems. Ther

[18F]Aryl fluorides from hypervalent iodine compounds

Nucleophilic aromatic fluorination has been one of the most explored methods in fluorin-18 based radiochemistry. Unlike electrophilic [18F]fluorination methods, no-carrier-added nucleophilic radiofluorination with cyclotronproduced [18F]fluoride ion offers better specific radioactivity which is essential aspect to obtain good quality images from positron emission tomography. Contrary to amenable aliphatic radiofluorination, the development of reliable aromatic [18F]fluorination methods has been

Electroweak Penguin and Leptophobic Z^ model

We consider the leptophobic $Z^\prime$ model which can appear naturally in the flipped SU(5) or string-inspired $E_6$ models. This model can be constrained by measurements of the $B\to M ν\barν$ decays and $Δm_s$. We find that although the latter give much stronger constraints on the coupling than the former, they are complementary to each other.

An optimized radiosynthesis of 18F-THK-5351 for routine production on TRACERlab™ FXFN

18F-THK-5351 is a PET radiotracer to image the hyperphosphorylated tau fibrillar aggregates in human brain. This protocol describes the optimized radiosynthesis of 18F-THK-5351 using a commercial GE TRACERlab™ FXFN radiosynthesis module. 18F-THK-5351 was prepared by nucleophilic [18F]fluorination from its protected tosylate precursors, (S)-(2-(2-methylaminopyrid-5-yl)-6-[[2-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)-3-tosyloxy]propoxy] quinolone(THK-5352), at 110 °C for 10 min in dimethyl sulfoxide, followed
