Professor Jungjae Park's research lab specializes in paleoclimatology and climate modeling, focusing on Holocene climate dynamics, particularly abrupt climate changes and the Holocene Climate Optimum in East Asia. The lab employs high-resolution multi-proxy records—such as pollen, grain size, and geochemical indicators—from coastal and terrestrial archives to reconstruct past climate variability and understand the role of large-scale oceanic and atmospheric systems like the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation. The lab also contributes to global climate data synthesis through large-scale datasets like LegacyClimate 1.0, enhancing model-data comparisons and addressing the 'Holocene conundrum'.

Abstract In this study, we present a high-resolution multi-proxy record (pollen, magnetic susceptibility, and mean grain size) from Bigeum Island, South Korea, which mainly showed early Holocene paleoenvironmental change.
