Professor Jungmin Nam's research lab focuses on urban interface spaces in low-rise residential areas, exploring how architectural and urban design strategies can enhance pedestrian experience and urban connectivity. The lab investigates key concepts such as diversity, layering, and fine-grained spatial segmentation to transform underutilized street-level environments into vibrant, socially engaging spaces. Through comparative studies of Seoul and Tokyo, the lab examines the morphological and perceptual qualities of building frontages and their role in fostering urban porosity and community interaction.
