Professor Jung-Won Park's research lab focuses on allergic diseases, particularly food allergy and airway hyperresponsiveness, with an emphasis on identifying major allergens and understanding the immunological and molecular mechanisms underlying asthma and airway remodeling. The lab investigates the role of key inflammatory mediators such as TGF-β1 and IL-1β in lung fibrosis and hyperreactivity, especially in the context of metabolic stress and environmental exposures. Additionally, the lab applies advanced analytical techniques to study DNA adducts and oxidative damage, linking molecular changes to disease pathogenesis. Their work bridges clinical immunology, molecular biology, and environmental health.

A method for the detection of rare adducts in DNA has been developed by combining the resolution of high-performance liquid chromatography with the specificity and sensitivity of electrochemical detection. Many adducts are electrochemically active, while the normal bases, except for guanine, are not.
