Professor Kang-pyo Lee's research lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms underlying chronic diseases, with a primary emphasis on cancer, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease. The lab investigates the protective roles of natural compounds—particularly bioactive phytochemicals like monoterpenes, thymol, piperine, and extracts from black chokeberry—in modulating oxidative stress, inflammation, and cellular signaling pathways. Key research directions include the prevention and therapeutic potential of physical activity and natural products in sarcopenia, cachexia, atherosclerosis, glioma metastasis, and neurodegeneration.
