Professor Kang Woo Lee's research lab specializes in clinical and rehabilitative medicine, focusing on improving outcomes in chronic metabolic and neurological conditions. Key research directions include optimizing glycemic and cardiovascular management in type 2 diabetes, particularly through emerging pharmacotherapies like SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists, and enhancing motor function and balance in patients with cerebral palsy, stroke, and chronic musculoskeletal disorders. The lab also investigates innovative rehabilitation technologies such as robot-assisted gait training and hippotherapy, integrating biomechanical assessment with clinical outcomes. Additionally, it explores age-related changes in joint mobility and postural control in the elderly, aiming to prevent falls and maintain functional independence.

15The Committee of Clinical Practice Guidelines of the Korean Diabetes Association revised and updated the 6th Clinical Practice Guidelines in 2019. Targets of glycemic, blood pressure, and lipid control in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) were updated. The obese and overweight population is increasing steadily in Korea, and half of the Koreans with diabetes are obese. Evidence-based recommendations for weight-loss therapy for obesity management as treatment for hyperglycemia in T2DM were provided.
