Professor Ki-Woong Lee's research spans biomedical engineering and socio-technical studies, focusing on the interplay between biological mechanisms in acute cerebrovascular events and the sociocultural construction of globalization in creative industries. His lab investigates platelet-mediated rethrombosis in stroke patients following thrombolysis, exploring therapeutic interventions like glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitors. Simultaneously, the lab examines the performative dimensions of globalization through actor-network theory, analyzing how global imaginaries and technological practices—such as the adoption of 'fair trade' production systems in Korean advertising—shape local cultural industries. This dual focus bridges clinical intervention with critical social theory, emphasizing both biological and sociotechnical systems.

Rapid arterial rethrombosis is associated with high-grade residual stenosis and usually occurs at the site of the initial occlusion, resulting in reocclusion of the recanalized artery. Platelets may play an active role in such rethrombosis after thrombolytic-induced clot lysis. Given that glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor blockers, like tirofiban, prevent thrombus formation by inhibiting the final common pathway of platelet aggregation, they may be helpful for treating rethrombosis after thrombolys

In the fabrication process of optical elements (OEs) by the laser scanning method using a dichromated gelatin (DCG) photoplate, the expansion and drying stress of gelatine caused by inhomogeneous liquid flow inside the gelatine affects the shape of OEs. The reason this inhomogeneous liquid flow exists in the energy oversaturated parts of OEs is the presence of surplus energy. In order to obtain the OEs of desired spherical lens shape, the drying stress should be reduced and therefore the maximum
