Professor Kim, Sung Hoo's research lab focuses on transportation behavior, sustainable mobility, and the societal impacts of emerging transportation technologies. The lab investigates travel behavior, user perceptions, and decision-making processes in response to evolving transportation systems, including autonomous vehicles and public transit improvements. Key research directions include modeling crash severity, assessing public transportation satisfaction, and analyzing the behavioral and economic implications of transportation innovation.

Autonomous vehicles (AVs) are believed to be the next gamechanger in transportation systems. They will lead to increasing “passengerization” of travel, that is, drivers will more often become passengers.
