Professor Kwan-gyu Song's research lab specializes in molecular and translational medicine, with a focus on the genetic and immunological mechanisms underlying autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The lab investigates gene polymorphisms—particularly in immune-related genes such as TNF-α, CTLA-4, and ACE—and their associations with susceptibility to and response to therapy in conditions like systemic lupus erythematosus, psoriasis, sarcoidosis, and connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung disease. Additionally, the lab explores the therapeutic potential of natural compounds, such as luteolin, in modulating cell signaling pathways in cancer and placental disorders. The integration of genetic epidemiology, molecular biology, and clinical meta-analyses defines the lab’s interdisciplinary approach to identifying biomarkers and therapeutic targets.

Luteolin is a natural compound known for its anticancer effects on various human cancers by regulating signal transduction cascades.
