研究室紹介
Professor Kwang-woo Kim's research lab focuses on sustainable building technologies and energy-efficient systems, with a strong emphasis on thermal energy management in residential and commercial buildings. Key research directions include thermally activated building systems (TABS), energy balancing systems (EBS), and housing performance evaluation models that support data-driven decision-making in construction and real estate. The lab also explores biomedical applications, particularly in understanding oxidative stress mechanisms in neuropathic pain and the clinical interplay between inflammatory diseases such as IBD and AD.

15The objectives of this study were to investigate the thermally activated building system (TABS) mechanism for appropriate use of the system and to apply the proper concept of TABS for each zone by using different TABS control strategies. In order to examine the TABS mechanism, dynamic simulation with EnergyPlus was used to model the office building with TABS, because the radiant heat exchange characteristics of the TABS according to the time variable was critical. The typical control concept of
This paper presents the development of a housing performance evaluation model for multi-unit residential buildings, which is intended to encourage initiative towards achieving better housing performance and to support homebuyers'decision making on housing comparison and selection. Forty-one objective and feasible housing performance indicators were selected from a review of existing evaluation models and interviews with experts, are classified into a series of categories. The weight of each cate
An energy balancing system (EBS) performs heating and cooling by utilizing the refrigerant cycle. As it produces heating and cooling simultaneously, EBS has an advantage when heating and cooling demand occur simultaneously. Furthermore, with increase in a thermal storage capacity, it can conduct energy balancing by heating and cooling which occur at different times. It can result in both an increase in the heating and cooling produced by energy balancing and a reduction in operating cost. Howeve
Objectives There are a few studies about the relationship between inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and atopic dermatitis (AD). It is implied that both diseases have common pathophysiologic mechanisms and can affect each other. However, little information is available on the effect of AD on the clinical course of patients with IBD.Methods This is a multi-center, retrospective, observational study. We define AD as a chronic eczematoid dermatosis diagnosed by dermatologists. Patients with concurren
This study suggests that ischemia/reperfusion injury induced neuropathic pain model is a good candidate for the research fields of ROS and pain mechanism. The generation of ROS, especially superoxide is partly responsible for NMDA-mediated mechanical allodynia.
Inside vapour tightness of the structure is very important to prevent interstitial condensation. In curtain wall system, inside finish material for insulation is often taking a role of vapour retarder. However, inside finish material for insulation is easily torn during the construction period due to its weakness. It may cause vapour diffusion and interstitial condensation. Thus this study aims to suggest the efficient inside finish material for insulation to prevent interstitial condensation in
The purpose of this study is to make the target condition of experimental assessment based on the standard EN1264. To achieve this purpose, the characteristic errors, which are caused by characteristics of experimental setup and prevent the results from meeting the target condition, should be removed. This study proposes an experimental setup and suggests a control strategy based on standard EN1264. For the specifications of the experimental setup, the essential equipment and the configuration o
The load-balancing method is to make the different amount of heating and cooling loads to be similar as possible for handling the more load by the balanced heat recovery (BHR) system which has higher energy performance than auxiliary system. When this method is applied, the zone set temperatures should be in comfort range and the additional energy to BHR system should not exceed the energy consumption by auxiliary system of general method. In result, the total energy consumption is lower, and so
The objective of this study is to analyze the performance evaluation of the Radiant Floor Cooling and the dehumidification system included in the integrated system may be utilized as a supplementary cooling device through field experiments. The experiments are performed to evaluate the performance of the radiant floor cooling and confirm the possibility of continuous cooling through the actual field experiments, moreover, analyze specific characters of the radiant floor cooling system according
The prevalence of colorectal neoplasm in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease has increased twice as high as that in the general population. FibroScan is a new modality for evaluating hepatic steatosis. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between the risk of high-risk colorectal neoplasia and hepatic steatosis examined using FibroScan. This was a cross sectional study of prospectively enrolled subjects who were scheduled to undergo index colonoscopy as a health screening
