研究室紹介

Professor Kyu Sung Lee's research lab specializes in the development of innovative biomedical technologies with a focus on point-of-care diagnostics, urological interventions, and bio-integrated electronic systems. The lab pioneers colorimetric biosensors using gold nanoparticles and localized surface plasmon resonance for rapid detection of viral pathogens such as MERS-CoV, while also advancing minimally invasive treatments for lower urinary tract disorders like overactive bladder and stress urinary incontinence. A key innovation is the creation of stretchable, conformal electronic systems that mimic the dynamic behavior of the urinary bladder, enabling real-time monitoring and potential therapeutic applications. The lab bridges nanotechnology, urology, and bioelectronics to address unmet clinical needs in urological health and infectious disease diagnostics.

) for detection of Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV). This platform is able to verify the existence of viral molecules through a localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) shift and color changes of AuNPs in the UV-vis wavelength range. We designed a pair of thiol-modified probes at either the 5' end or 3' end to organize complementary base pairs with upstream of the E protein gene (upE) and open reading frames (ORF) 1a on MERS-CoV. The dsDNA of the target and probes forms

SJR Q2International Journal of Urology

PURPOSE: Among various intracorporeal lithotriptors, Lithoclast (EMS, Switzerland) has become the widely used tool for the treatment of urinary stones. Recently, the holmium:YAG laser has been used with a wide range of potential urological applications, including intracorporeal lithotripsy of urinary calculi. The purpose of the present study is to compare Lithoclast with holmium:YAG laser lithotripsy in ureteral calculi fragmentation. METHODS: Out of 51 patients with ureteral calculi, 26 underwe

Outcomes Following Repeat Mid Urethral Synthetic Sling After Failure of the Initial Sling Procedure: Rediscovery of the Tension-Free Vaginal Tape Procedure
Kyu‐Sung Lee, Chin Kyung Doo, Deok Hyun Han, Byung Joo Jung, Ji‐Yeon Han, Myung‐Soo Choo
SJR Q1The Journal of Urology

The repeat mid urethral sling for persistent or recurrent stress urinary incontinence has a lower cure rate than the initial sling. However, the retropubic approach tends to have a higher cure rate than the transobturator approach in repeat sling cases.

A Prospective Trial Comparing Tension-Free Vaginal Tape and Transobturator Vaginal Tape Inside-Out for the Surgical Treatment of Female Stress Urinary Incontinence: 1-Year Followup
Kyu‐Sung Lee, Deok Hyun Han, Yang Su Choi, Seung Hee Yum, Seung Hun Song, Chin Kyung Doo, Myung‐Soo Choo
SJR Q1The Journal of Urology

The tension-free vaginal tape and transobturator vaginal tape inside-out procedures were minimally invasive and similar in operation related morbidity. Transobturator vaginal tape inside-out appeared to be as effective and safe as tension-free vaginal tape for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence in women at 1-year followup.

Underactive bladder or detrusor underactivity (DUA), that is, not being able to micturate, has received less attention with little research and remains unknown or limited on pathological causes and treatments as opposed to overactive bladder, although the syndrome may pose a risk of urinary infections or life-threatening kidney damage. Here, we present an integrated expandable electronic and optoelectronic complex that behaves as a single body with the elastic, time-dynamic urinary bladder with
